Making Adjectives and Adverbs


Adjectives: Adjectives are used with nouns (naming words). They are
‘describing’ words that tell us about something or someone.


e.g. fast car stormy night
(adjective) (noun) (adjective) (noun)

Some nouns can be made into adjectives by adding ‘y’ to the
end of the word.

Adverbs: Adverbs are usually used with verbs (doing words). They
tell us how something is done. Some words are made into adverbs by
adding ‘ly’ or ‘ily’ .
