TARGET YOUR GRAMMAR

(Suitable for Key Stages 3 and 4)

SECTION 1 – ABOUT THE PRODUCT
The 'Grammar Programme' supports rapid progress in the acquisition of grammatical and
general language skills through a series of targets and regularly prompts the learner to
revisit and review prior work. The Programme facilitates a student's understanding of the
importance of good grammar and increases their self confidence. It is ideal for one-to-one
tuition, group work, peer mentoring or whole class teaching. There are eleven main targets
(60 pages), and the Programme uses a points system to quantify the level of success and
offers a certificate for those who complete the units. The 'Grammar Programme' is
particularly suitable for projection onto an IWB for class/group work and also acts as an
editable duplication master. Use MS Word to customise the resource and produce new
worksheets.

Pack B (see Section 3) consists of 20 interactive exercises/quizzes which support the first
ten targets in the core product.

The Grammar Programme is provided as MS Word master files. These can be edited as
you see fit. The Certificate is also provided as a MS Word file and as the native wmf
(windows metafile) for importing into another DTP package, etc.

Apply the power of MS Word to customize the resource, and to produce new support
sheets by simply changing the selected sentence, word or its context.

A full colour version is provided and is particularly suitable for projection onto a whiteboard
or IWB for class discussion and instruction.

SECTION 2 – PACK A (THE CORE PRODUCT)
The course is divided into targets. Each target gives the students important information to
help them improve their grammar and has tasks for them to do which will demonstrate
their understanding.

The course is designed so that students can progress through the targets at a pace that is
individually right for them.

Each target has three tasks.

Task 1 and Task 2 in each target gives each student the opportunity to practice what has
been learned. These tasks give them the first two pieces of evidence of their success.

Task 3 – Asks each student to find evidence in a piece of their own work (this should be
independent writing, not copied from a text) from any of their lessons or homework that
shows they have correctly used the grammar taught in that target.

Evidence of a student’s success is recorded on their record sheet. The teacher or support
assistant should sign and date the task boxes to show that a student has been successful
in that task. See the example below:-
